Hi, I’m DANIEL THORPE.
I’m a 26 Year Old screen actor from South East London. I moved up to Leeds in order to chase my passion for acting and attend MetFilm University. I started Uni slightly later than most after leaving school earlier than I should’ve and getting straight into work, thinking that was the “done thing” when trying to learn a trade. I discovered my passion for acting when working on building sites or serving tables and managing restaurants, so apologies if you’ve been served by me during this time! Because I started Uni so late, I always felt like I had to do more to catch up as I knew this was exactly what I wanted to do. This meant saying yes to everything, which is a great idea… until I started tripping over myself and burning myself out. I feel like I’ve reflected this in most of my characters, I seem confident on the outside, when really I’m my own worst enemy. Over-thinking is a favourite past time of mine apparently!
I’ll keep it short otherwise I’ll fill the entire page with waffle, I’m sure I can share a story or two if I’m ever on set with you!

My Approach
As for my acting approach, I like to use Meisner and Uta Hagen to get into character. Finding real world experiences that I’ve faced, understanding what my characters have been through / are going through and connecting that with something that I’ve experienced is the quickest way to immerse myself into a role. If I struggle to make that connection, I use a lot of emotional prep to get myself to where that character would be, understanding how they feel at that time allows you to take on that characters “weight” and embody what they’re experiencing.
